It all stretches back to 1974, when Bill Short began his career in the pump industry. Working for some of the most storied names in the business – Byron Jackson, Bingham Willamette, Sundstrand and of course, A.R. Wilfley & Sons, Inc. – Bill found a passion for the most complex of pump engineering principles: hydraulics. This fundamental aspect of pump design has fueled his drive ever since.
He funneled his talent and passion into developing a wide range of hydraulics during his 17 years with Wilfley. The most notable contributions include all of the Model S3 sizes, the expansion hydraulics of the A7 and A9 (including mentoring the development of the low flow and Frame 5 A9 wet ends). His development of the 6×4-10 A7 wet end filled a sizable hydraulic gap and provided for significant savings in initial and operating cost over existing performance envelopes.
Early in his Wilfley career, he helped fulfill a strategic partnership between Ensival-Moret and Wilfley. The collaboration allowed for Wilfley’s customers to access complimentary products, extending our unique problem solving benefits across a much broader range of applications.
Born in Memphis, he was raised in Northern California which explains his relaxed and accommodating demeanor. He enjoys hiking, biking and fishing and will join his wife Kathy in shedding the daily commute and work routine. Together, they have four children and nine grandchildren to keep them busy and fulfilled.
